If you usually fill your tank up with 87-octane gasoline and you accidentally put in a higher octane blend (say, 91, 92, or 93), don't worry. You're actually filling your car or truck with a different blend of gas, which means it will burn differently in your engine.
Premium gasoline is generally considered any type of gasoline with an octane level of 91 or greater, with 91 octane and 93 octane being the most common versions of premium gasoline available at gas stations in the United States (93 octane gasoline may be called “ultra” or “super-premium” in some cases).
Premium fuel is typically rated at 91, and Super is usually rated at 93. Those numbers are actually telling you how much octane is in that fuel: 87% octane for your Regular gasoline; 91% octane for Premium, and 93% for Super.

The octane ratings of AVGAS, a gasoline-based fuel, are usually either 91 or 100 (lean mixture) and 96 or 130 (rich mixture). The octane rating of jet fuel is much lower, around 15 – this is much more like automotive diesel and thus much more resistant to detonating due to sparks or compression.
The Federal Trade Commission recommends using regular gasoline for most standard cars and notes that: "In most cases, using a higher octane gasoline than your owner's manual recommends offers absolutely no benefit. It won't make your car perform better, go faster, get better mileage, or run cleaner."
For most vehicles, higher octane fuel may improve performance and gas mileage and reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by a few percent during severe duty operation, such as towing a trailer or carrying heavy loads, especially in hot weather. However, under normal driving conditions, you may get little to no benefit.
If you put premium gas in a car that doesn't call for the expensive stuff, it won't affect performance, burn cleaner, or improve your fuel economy. So unless the manual suggests premium fuel, the rule of thumb is to avoid spending that extra cash at the pump.

Non-ethanol gas or clear gas is a fuel type without any ethanol content, made only from petroleum, and free from renewable fuel additives. There's no such thing as “better gas.” Companies like Chevron try to tell you their gasoline is superior because it has Techron in it. However, all gas has detergents that prevent clogging in the fuel injector, and no brand of gas is better quality than any other for your vehicle.
It's not Top Tier, like anything else, you get what you pay for. Imo and in my practice, if you're not expecting to put 200k miles on your engine, I wouldn't worry about it. Throw in a bottle of Techron 2 or 3 times a year if you are worried. Walmart should meet EPA minimum specs.
The only difference between brands is that each major oil company has a slightly different additive package. In a lot of places a refinery will produce gasoline for Chevron one day and Shell the next, Exxon the next. The only difference is the additives.

Costco gas is Top Tier and is the best gas on the market. You are getting the additive package in both premium and regular for the cost of the gas, no additional markup. I have used Costco gas in every car or truck I have owned for at least the past 14 years.
both are top tier gas, personally would have no issue using either one. lots of 93 octane Shell, Mobil, and Sunoco, (some with new tanks underground) around here; all good, cant go wrong with any of them! Several years ago Sunoco had a 94 or 95 super premium; don't see it anymore.
